help!! My first baby is due in December. I am from the UK so very unfamiliar with how it all works here and feeling very lost. I am with a GYN doctor who delivers at Winnie Palmer but have been given no guidance with the hospital and delivery etc. Should I be attending classes, should I have worked out a payment plan with the hospital?, shoud i have had a tour??

Hi Katie- I feel your concerns and welcome to US. I have traveled to UK with fond memories. First off if you have insurance, be sure to call and ask about your benefits for pregnancy- they can email them to you. The thing about our system in US is you have to be your own advocate and pretty much ask a lot of questions. This can be good and not so good at times. Find out if your Gyn delivers at Winnie. This is a phenomenal hospital and most women I know deliver here if you want a hospital birth that is. As for classes, there are some posted on this website and you can request to know about classes with your obgyn. They should be open to telling you this information. I would look for obgyn around Winnie such as PremierObgyn if you don’t have an OB. Obgyn specialists of Winter Park off Clay (has other locations) is also good and delivers at Winnie. However they are a larger practice. Good luck and all best to you

Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I have a GYN, Dr Peppy and he delivers at Winnie. I will contact the hospital about classes, am I also supposed to set up a tour of the hospital?
I am insured with United and already set up a payment plan with Dr Peppy but didn’t know if I needed to do this with the hospital too, or do my insurance company do that??
Sorry for all the questions!
Thanks
Katie

Hi Katie- I have heard awesome things about Dr. Peppy! As far as I know you don’t need to do anything except pre register at Winnie. There is a link on this website to pre register and I believe you can do it in advance. They may ask for your insurance then not sure. Yes you are also suppose to set up a tour at your convenience but this is optional and link on site. Ask as many questions as you would like. I have a 4 year old and delivered at Winter Park last time- so I am new to Winnie but I can help best I can. Take care Kimberly
